Brittany Murphy was born to Sharon Murphy on November 10th, 1977
in Atlanta GA. (Her parents later divorced.) She grew up in the
NY/NJ area but later moved to Burbank, CA. She graduated from
John Burroughs High School.
By the age of 9, Brittany was already performing in regional
theatre. She performed a song in the play, Les Miserables, while
attending Herbert Hoover Middle School in Edison, NJ and also
appeared in the musical Really Rosie.
Brittnay hired a manager when she was only a preteen. She soon
began making commercials, eventually moving to Hollywood in 1991.
Once there, Brittany landed a role on the TV sitcom Drexell's
Class.
She now lives with her mother, in Los Angeles.

Trivia
During the shooting of the movie "Girl, Interrupted",
the filmakers had to reshoot the scene in which Winona Ryder finds
her after she commits suicide, because Winona was so convincing,
Brittany couldn't help crying.
Brittany was nominated for the Annie Award in 1997 for Best Individual
Achievement: Voice Acting by a Female Performer in a TV Production,
and in 1999 she was nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best
Performance in a TV Movie/Pilot/Mini-Series or Series - (Leading
Young Actress) for the TV movie David & Lisa.
